2. The Georgian president should be of the nation and for the nation

The president of Georgia was asked by his nation to start a dialogue or discussions with the parliamentary opposition regarding the date of the forthcoming parliamentary elections and some other issues related with the mishandlings of the current government, especially in the issues of human rights violations.

For 5 days thousands of people waited in front of the parliament building for the president to come up with some offer on the terms of discussions. His response came on the 6th day and it was a brutal violence against peaceful civilians. All the world has seen what has happened in the streets of Tbilisi on November 7, 2007.

Independent TV company was raided by the armed squad hiding faces under the masks and ruining and destroying the equipment and documentation of the company. The president Mikheil Saakashvili well knew about that action, but he did nothing to stop the violence.

Now he started regular interviews and long talks with some groups of people, and all his harangues are being aired on the national TV channel. But where was he some 10 days ago? Could he not speak to his nation in the open in front of the parliament building?

If he is so scared of big crowds in the open, then why couldn't he invite a group of oppositioners for some chamber talks? Or he wanted to whip the nation? Then he has no right to be the president, not even the right to be a manager in a minor company....

3. AIRWAVES FOR YOUTH

There are many senseless and irrelevant programs being broadcasted on the radio and television in the metropolitan area where the crime rate is outrageously high.

I think that Radio One should cut some programs and devote at least one hour to the youth. Allowing them to call the station and express themselves about what's going on in there community, schools, and personal situations.

A counselor of some sort would also be available to answer questions and give advice. I also believe that BET should bring Teen Summit back. It would also be a good way for teens to receive information and speak on certain issues such as sex, gang violence, and STD's.

WPGC is my favorite radio station but I have an issue with them. They speak on violence in the city every chance they get but why not open up the lines for the youth to call in and express themselves. We have all these senseless programs on the radio but the biggest issue is left unattended.

I also have a big problem with my favorite television station BET. Who like I said about WPGC have discussed youth violence but where is the shows like Teen Summit? We need these programs back in the lives of the youth so there’s space and a place to air out issues. If we don’t reach out to our youth we will never know what’s really bothering them.

Thanks,

Steven Davis Jr.

9. End the Pro-ED madness

About 11 million people in the united states have an eating disorder. 10-15 percent of those people die from heath-related issues associated with eating disorders.

In a study of girls aged 9 to 15, slightly more than half reported exercising to lose weight, slightly less than half reported eating less to lose weight, and approximately 1 out of 20 reported using diet pills or laxatives to lose weight.

Research has shown that approximately 40 percent of fourth graders have been on a "diet" once in awhile. Research from Anorexia Nervosa and Related Eating Disorders, Inc. (ANRED) suggests that about 1 percent of female adolescents have anorexia. That means that about 1 out of every 100 females between the ages of 10 and 20 are not eating enough and should be seeing a doctor.

Bulimia affects 1 to 3 percent of middle and high school girls.

Boys and men develop eating disorders, too. Research from ANRED suggests that 5 to 10 percent of people with anorexia or bulimia are males.

With these risks and statistics in mind, would you think there would be a such thing as PRO-ED?

Pro ED (pro eating disorder) is basically glamorizing eating disorders. Would you want to glamorize this:

The following are issues related to eating disorders:

Cold intolerance
Dry skin
Fatigue
Distorted body chemistry
Anemia/altered blood count
Loss of period (amenorrhea)
Gastrointestinal problems
Death
Rotting teeth (induced by bulimia)
Malnutrition
Dehydration
Electrolyte Imbalances
Hyponatremia (related to "water-loading")
Refeeding Syndrome (related to treatment)
Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies
Lanugo .
Edema
Muscle Atrophy
Paralysis
Tearing of Esophagus
Esophageal Reflux
Cancer
Insomnia
Hyperactivity
Swelling
Callused or bruised fingers
Dry Skin and Hair, Brittle Hair and Nails, Hair Loss
Low Blood Pressure, Hypotension
High Blood Pressure, Hypertension
Low Platelet Count or Thrombocytopenia -
Low Blood Sugar/Hypoglycemia: can indicate problems with the liver or kidneys and can lead to neurological and mental deterioration.
Ketoacidosis
Osteoporosis
Arthritis (degenerative)
TMJ "Syndrome" and Related TMJ Problems
Amenorrhea
Easily Bruising Skin
Infertility
Problems during pregnancy
Depression
Lowered body temperature
Cramps, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, incontinence -
Peptic Ulcers
Pancreatitis -
Digestive Difficulties
Weakness and Fatigue
Seizures
Death

With those risks in mind, I feel that Pro-ED sited should be shut down. I feel that they are as bad as sites telling people how to commit suicide. These sites are also triggering for those who are in recovery of this disease.

10. Uncontrolled Canadian Goose Population

August 3, 2006

This is a petition regarding on ongoing complaint with the City of Rochester regarding its lack of interest, concern and effort regarding the uncontrolled Canadian Goose population within the city limits and specifically as to how the destruction of property and contamination of the uncontrolled Goose population directly affects residential neighborhoods and private properties.

The residential community of Pinewood Homeowner's Associations I & II (located at Pinewood Road and McQuillan Court SE, Rochester, MN) is unique in that it is comprised of 48 units with over 85% of the residents being senior citizens and many residents with active, chronic medical issues (ie: cardiovascular diseases, arthritis and other degenerative conditions).

These permanent health issues make it virtually impossible for the residents to directly confront or to clean up after the invading Goose population. In addition, this community property borders directly with a wetland area that is both owned and maintained (so to speak) by the City of Rochester. The Department of Natural Resources presents various methods of population control.

We are confident that the City of Rochester is well aware of those options....none of which have been given active consideration at this point in time.

This petition is submitted as a follow-up to our onsite meeting with Amy Blenker (Rochester City Council Member) and Barbara Huberty (Rochester Public Works Department) on July 12th 2006 and is submitted as per their request.

11. Consumer choices and no-compete clauses

January 27, 2006

Consumers are suffering due to no-compete clauses that agencies serving people with disabilities have in the hiring process.

I believe that a no-compete clause is stating ownership of that consumer and their choices to keep their respective providers if they choose.

As an agency we do not ask an employee to sign a no-compete ourselves. All consumers deserve the right to be informed if picking a provider that has to sign a no-compete clause. Where does a no-compete clause help a client that is bonded to a provider that has mental health issues, behavioral issues, major health issues?

What about the consumers and families that have waited years to find a decent provider and loose that provider to a no-compete clause? If you beleive that a no-compete clause is infringing on the rights of the consumers please sign this petition.

13. Make Trade Fair: Our Human Rights Can't be traded

The time remaining befre the WTO ministerial affords the people at the grassroots level to have a say on the issues affecting their human rights and their livelihood.

The fifth World Trade Organization's Hong Kong Ministerial will take place in December 2005, where vital TRADE issues/agreements will be decided. The time prior the ministerial affords us the opportunity as the citizens to influence our WTO ministerial not to sign for issues that affects our human rights and that exacerbate the level of poverty in our country and other developing nations.

The WTO has implemented agreements that have had a negative impact on people's human rights as enshrined in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and other Human Rights instrument such as the International Covenant on Economic, Social and cultural rights e.g. The Trade Related Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) that allows the multinational companies the right to patent access to live saving drugs like ARVs (aids DRUGS) for people living with HIV/AIDS, this agreement violates the people's right to health, the Agreement on Agriculture that benefit the developed countries yet violating people in developing countries the right to food and adequate standard of living by allowing the developed nations (e.g. The US and EU) to continue subsidizing their exports flooding the domestic markets of developing nations such as South Africa and therefore resulting in job loses and poverty.

Another agreement that has had a negative effect on the livelihood of the people is the General Agreements of Trade on Service, privatizing essential human needs such as health, water, education and technology thereby increasing the level of poverty and inaccessibility to essential services.

Sign this petition and mandate of government not to sign for any agreement that will negatively affect our human rights as the citizens of the developing nation.

On the upcoming Hong Kong Ministerial the delegation will sign for the new agreement that was put forward by developed nations called the JULY FRAMEWORK, that will give more power to emerged economies to continue to bully the developing nations and to increase subsidies of imported goods in South Africa and thereby causing more job loses and poverty, making our farmers uncompetitive as a result of cheap imported goods that are less than our domestic cost of production.

SIGN FOR FAIR TRADE AND STOP TRADE LIBERALIZATION THAT BENEFIT THE RICH WHILE THE POOR SUFFER.

14. Feminism should be taught in schools

We continue to take a stand against companies and members of congress who do not support womens rights. One thing we are not doing enough of is educating our children about women's rights.

Perhaps if the ceo's and members of congess who are not standing up for womens rights were educated about sexual equality at an early age maybe, we wouldn't continue to have to fight for them.

President Bush just made a statement that intelligent design should be taught in schools. His reasoning was (direct quote from msnbc):
"I think that part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought," Bush said. "You're asking me whether or not people ought to be exposed to different ideas, the answer is yes."

Bush is right we should learn about many different schools of thought and many different ideas. Therefore feminism should also be taught in schools. Both men and women have a right to know about the many issues women have to fight for.

16. 12 lot subdivision at 111 Exeter Road Hampton, NH.

Delvin Arnold has purchased the property at 111 Exeter Road Hampton, NH. Mr. Arnold is proposing to have a 12 lot Subdivision in the now wooded area, which also has other issues. Those issues being the Water Table, Environment, Wildlife, & intrusion on the abutters. At the meeting on Feb. 2, 2005, Planning Board member Tom Gillick stated that the objective of the meeting was to review the design of the proposed Subdivision only. Many residents concerned about the proposed development attended the meeting to voice all their concerns, which are all viable.

We the citizens believe that the area is mostly wetlands which is already an ongoing issue currently that the Town of Hampton has yet to rectify. The water table rises in an area on Bourn Ave. that has residents outraged. We work very hard at keeping our property well maintained & the water issue is an ongoing battle. Water is currently being pumped through exposed PVC piping from the excess water and some days it may take hours for the water to dissapate. The traffic that goes down Bourn Ave. causes the water to almost go up to residents front doors.

Tom Gillick describes the situation as "temporary". I have lived on Bourn Ave. for almost 3 yrs and I have never seen the situation addressed appropriately. The residents that already have water problems in their basements will only become worse and extremely costly. There is also the Wildlife issue & Environmental Protection that residents would like to see.

The area is overdeveloped as it is & by forcing out the Wildlife, there is potential for more accidents & also the risk of the animals finding refuge in residents homes. I am a firm believer of protection of Wildlife, the land is currently their home and most of the residents do not want to see that destroyed.

These are all the concerns of the residents of Hampton, NH. that will utlimately be affected by this proposed development.

18. Get George Bush & Tony Blair OUT!

In light of the current situation in Iraq, and the way that these so-called "world leaders" have conducted their self with lies and false issues surrounding their campaign of Operation Iraqi Liberation (O.I.L.). With their selfish needs for the Iraqi oil the have lead our military to an unnessecary war, leading to countless deaths of troops and innocent civilians, which in turn will invoke more terrorists all over the world.

Allthough their false intentions seemed nobel at the time, their accusations have failed to materialise. With the death toll rising these people need to be withdrawn from power as like they done with the Iraqi leader. It was clear from the news reports that the Americain leader was not making the decisions and that the British leader was merely mislead into believing the dangers that the Americains portraid.

20. Degrassi: the abortion episodes

The N, the cable network here in the United States which airs the Canadian television show Degrassi:Then Next Generation, is refusing to air the first two episodes of the new season. Due to the nature of the episodes, in which Manny, 15, becomes pregnant with Craig's, 16, baby and decides that abortion is the way to go. Although it is a touchy subject, it is also a very real subject for today's youth. The show has dealt with sexuality, rape, cutting, child abuse, death and drug abuse, among other topics.

Pregnancy, abortion and the side effects of both, only seem like the next step for the show. With this petetion, we hope to show The N, that there is a need to show these ommited episodes.

The current state of the broadcasting industry is not immediately held liable for content and other intellectual property issues known to cause severe brain damage and mental illness. This petition would establish a plausible option for residential parties and consumers to generate inquire concerning content, thematic inference and other causes of particular conditions such as parkinson's disease, alzhimer's disease and even some forms of schizophrenia.

Regulatory issues would include:
1) Launching a full scale internet service operation for all national regions

2) Introduce the Medicaid/Medicare coverage plan which would allow a co-pay option for partial internet access (SSI-SSA);
3) Create a national broadcast community in which forums and other programming are recognized by the US Congress under meritious and technical basis. (FCC-ABC)

22. Save 'Ruse'!

CrossGen Comics (www.crossgen.com) recently announced the premature cancellation of several of its titles.

'Ruse' is one of them.

A fabulous and inventive mix of pseudo-Edwardianism, steampunk, fantasy and featuring great art and some wonderful banter between the two leads, Simon Archard and Emma Bishop, this was one of the first comics CrossGen produced.

It still has so many stories to tell, and so many loose ends to tie up. It would be an injustice to let this great publication vanish so soon, after only 26 issues.

If you love 'Ruse', please sign here and help the fans send a message to CG Comics - that Simon and Emma aren't done yet!

23. Address the issues of continuous conflicts within the recreation department of Plaquemines Parish.

Throughout the entire 2003 recreational baseball season, there has been continuous confusion and conflict, which we feel originates from the new P.P. Recreational Supervisor, Catherine V. Billiot. We are quite concerned that these problems will continue to escalate and will not be resolved until someone intervenes.

1. Game schedules, times and dates, have constantly changed throughout the season and Parish, causing confusion and inconvenience to all involved.

2. Mrs. Billiot is very rude and disrespectful and speaks to people as if they are children. She has the attitude that she's "THE BOSS" (which she has repeatedly stated to coaches, parents, parish employees and others involved) and things will be her way, with no compromise or discussion.

3. There is obvious partiality toward the Buras area by Mrs. Billiot. An example of this is the number of games played in Boothville and Port Sulphur compared to the games played in Buras. This includes tournaments.

24. Drag Strip/Speedway In The GTA

Hey All,

I recently went to a local police meeting on May 22nd 2002. They were discussing the amount of street racing that happens in the GTA. They say that in the GTA area alone there is about 20,000 modified cars (this number does not include the amount of the older hot rods of the earlier decades). The persons that attended this meeting owned at least 1 if not svereal modified cars.

When all the talking was done the officers and the people talked about certain issues and 1 of theses issues was concerning a local dragway/speedway.

We all came to the conclusion that the government is not really gonna consider sponsoring such a thing so here I am bringing all of this forward to all of the people. I am hoping that this petition will spark really well. Who know's maybe some things can happen like someone actually putting up a speedway.

Also one more quick note. The GTA holds some of the biggest car shows in North America. As an Import Street enthusiast I would love to see all of these cars show their stuff but I would rather see it done in a smart way Boys/Girls.

So stay off the streets if your gonna decide to race cuz all your doing is putting people's lives at risk. Your's and the people surrounding that local area. Thank You For Your Time.

25. Better Television coverage on Video Games related issues

This is a copy of the letter which will be sent along with this petition in our campain for better Television coverage of games:

I would just like to ask one question. Why isn't there any main stream video games programming.

Gaming now brings in more money than both Film and Music world wide yet no one has scene fit to publish a decent gaming program with industry insiders that actually no what there talking about. Some satellite channels have tried and failed on more than one occasion to bring forward such a program and yeah. A slightly witty script may please some casual gamers but it wont cut with actual games fans who want; Real games fans to honestly review good games across all formats games, talk about important gaming news and bring forwards Industry Officials to debate up and coming titles.

Now is the perfect time to start such a program. The "Console War" has just kicked up a gear with all major players (Microsoft, Sony + Nintendo) crashing down prices and releasing all there best soft ware for the Christmas rush.

Will it be popular? As I said, Gaming already brings in more money than films and Music. Nintendo favourite Super Mario is now officially more widely recognised than Mickey Mouse and Buggs Bunny. Games are now being taken seriously by institutions like the BAFTA's and there seems to be no stopping the industries rise. Why the sudden popularity burst?, Gaming has over the years transformed form a relatively small and not widely renowned industry to a Multi Billion Dollar main stream entertainment source for quite a few reasons. The main one being:

Technology advances, Since the big break into 3D around mid 1990's games have gone from strength to strength. Todays standards shown in most major releases are vastly approaching the levels of detail we can accomplish in films with some major movie studio's setting up there own gaming divisions. Most noticeable has been Lucas Arts. The legendary company set up by George Lucas creator of Star Wars and Indiee Anna Jones.

So whats up for the future? Well as with most things these days it a race for online glory. But a mere Internet site?, I think not instead how about a full online net work for playing games against people from every side of the globe. A chance for Tom nice boy And Harry to test there footy skills against there counter parts form Germany. Perhaps to go online with a friend and work together with a group of strangers from around the world in a team effort to save the world. This possibilities are endless and they are actually happening as we speak. Microsoft's Xbox live is just getting up and running, Sonys Internet systems are in operation and Nintendo's online networking is pencilled in for next year.

So as you can see it's an exciting time for the games industry and a main stream television slot would thump home the values of Gaming to every person across Britain. Many still don't really no the power of games and how they've evolved since there college days of playing Snes, Mega Drive and arcade system classics.

Were not asking for a multi million pound TV extravaganza, We just want a TV slot at a reasonable time detailing up and coming games, news and industry chat.

27. CTV_Warhorse Resignation Demanded

The Official Court TV Club was a club where justice, court cases and other legal issues were supposed to be discussed among members. It was a community comprised of people worldwide who come together to discuss many issues and where friendships were formed and debates were the norm of the day.

However, this is no longer the case.

For many months, it has instead become a place where the moderator, CTV_Warhorse46, a paid CTV employee of The Official Court TV Club, deletes posts because someone does not care for a CTV anchor and says so; deletes posts because someone posts Clintoon instead of Clinton; and deletes posters because they believe in 1st amendment rights of Free Speech. It is a place where you can be sent to the corner if you even hint that Nancy Grace is not your favorite person or because a CTV anchor might become offended. Political figures may NOT be discussed in unflattering terms. It has become a place, not where you can discuss issues important to you or the community, but where what you have to say is censored and you are chastised.

It has become a CTV Anchor Fan Club.

Then it became even worse.

This week, after apparent years of posting photographs belonging to others, the moderator was actually caught red-handed by the actual owner of copyrighted photographs. When asked to remove the photographs, the moderator complied, only to later post a fraudulent email purportedly coming from the owner of the photographs. This was done purely to cover up her illegal activity. The photographer had to return yet again to let the members know she had not sent the fraudulent email and that the moderator did not have her permission to use her material.

Since then, dozens of posts have been deleted in order to hide what happened and other posters have been deleted as members. As of today, CTV had yet to see fit in removing CTV_Warhorse46, a CTV employee paid to be the moderator of The Official Court TV Club.

Do adults have to be monitored in such a way that they are nothing more than mindless robots or a group of sheep? Must they only post what is acceptable to a few? Is this how Court TV runs things? We certainly hope not. We need a moderator who is unbiased and fair. We need a moderator that can head off trouble before it happens. Bashing and flaming of posters should never be allowed, yet freedom to discuss our beliefs on any issue should be a right – one afforded to us by the Constitution.

We Demand the Resignation of CTV_Warhorse46 and the Club returned to it’s stated mission. A place to talk about crime and justice issues. A place to form friendships and exchange ideas on every subject important to us. A place to become “our community online” once again.
