1. Justice for Anne Beatrice and unborn babies

To the Legislative Assembly of Victoria

The Petition of John and Celia Denney of Kilmore draws to the attention of the House that we lost our beautiful daughter Anne Beatrice at 20 weeks gestation, yet her life and death have gone virtually legally unnoticed, that we were woefully ill-informed by medical staff at the Royal Melbourne Hospital of what may well (and did) happen and that we have been deeply grieved that Anne’s death is not seen as even being worthy of inquiry by a coroner.

The verdict of “still-birth” is a stinging injustice, and devalues precious human lives, simply because that child did not take a breath.

2. SAVE CYCLISTS' LIVES: CHANGE WHITECHAPEL JUNCTION

The beautiful, bubbly 26-year-old lady who died tragically on Wednesday 16th September 2009 at the junction between Whitechapel Road and Vallance Road, London, was a dear member of our family.

We want to ensure that she did not die in vain and are campaigning for the redesign of this junction to prevent further tragic deaths.

Several people have been injured or killed at this specific spot in recent years. It is renowned throughout the cyclist community as being dangerous, particularly when travelling south down Vallance Road.

We would like to do everything we can to prevent other families from experiencing a similar tragic loss. PLEASE HELP US SAVE LIVES.

Sign up now and with your support we will work with Tower Hamlets, Tfl and the Highways Agency to make this specific junction and other cyclist blackspots safer.

Moreover we fully support other campaigns (e.g. London 2012 Cycle Safety Campaign and the petition to No 10: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/LGV-Cycle-Safety/) to ensure lorries are equipped with blind-spot mirrors, increasing safety for cyclists.

Thank you for your attention.

3. Traffic Calming Measures - Camp Hill

As most of you know excessive speeding in our local area has finally resulted in a nasty accident on the corner of The Promenade and Sydney Avenue on 28th July 2009. How no one was hurt badly is a mystery (See weblink).

On the back of numerous incidents over the last 2 years I have written to Shayne Sutton (local member) who has informed me that traffic calming measures will not be included in the 2009 - 2010 budget that was delivered on the 15th June 2009. In other words our neighbouring streets have recently had calming measures introduced but we have missed out (Arroll Street, Kennington Road, Allambie Street).

We all want a safe area to live in and this excessive speeding throughout our neighbourhood needs to be stopped. In the last 3 years we have witnessed numerous incidents and it is only a matter of time before a car ends up in our yard and a loved one is badly hurt or worse.

People still use The Promenade as a cut through road to Creek Road and a racetrack at that. Some speed bumps would put an end to this and make our streets a safer place.

I am asking you to sign a petition so we can take this to Shayne Sutton with any comments you may have on this issue. Perhaps by grouping together as a community we can get some movement on this problem.

Thanks for your time.

5. 3 ROUNDABOUTS

REQUIRED: 3 ROUNDABOUTS ALONG THE A359 MUDFORD ROAD, JUST OUTSIDE OF YEOVIL.

1)On the junction of Stone Lane, Coombe Street Lane and Mudford Road.

2)On the junction of St.Michaels Avenue and Mudford Road.

3)On the junction of Lyde Road and Mudford Road.

If, like me, you regularly use this road, then you will know the 3 junctions that should be made into roundabouts,
Junction "1 & 2" cause long tailbacks in all directions at peak periods, and often 1 causes a knock-on effect with the other.
Junction "3" is unsafe, with vehicles entering Yeovil not realising there is a busy junction and bend there.

The os grid references for each site (displayed as x,y) are
1)355585,117650
2)355812,117743
3)356450,118035
(these can be used in any online map, such as http://www.streetmap.co.uk/)

6. Buckle up the children!

March 14, 2006

How many of you know someone who has lost a baby or child in a vehicle accident because they were not buckled up in a car seat or with a safety belt? How many people do you know that allow their kids to stand in the car?

How many of you have SEEN what it looks like when a child has gone through a windscreen, if you have - you know you never want to ever again! Let's give children the right to live a whole life..

People have got so accustomed to the luxury of driving their (safe) cars, that they have become less aware of their own safety by driving continuously faster & more recklessly. They might be able to afford a speeding or reckless driving fines but what none of us can afford is the huge loss of childrens' lives which have occurred over many years. Children are allowed to stand on the back seat (sometimes even on the front seat!), they are not harnassed in in any way - should the driver have to apply brakes - which happens all the times - the child will either go through the windscreen & be killed or be very seriously injured / killed in the vehicle itself.

Please read this and forward it on, YOU could save a child's life TODAY!

7. Stop people getting away with murder behind the wheel

We lost our 12 year old daughter Hayley in a car crash on 16th March 2003. Hayley was a passenger in a vehicle and was on her way home when the accident happened. It seems that a blue peugeot 406 was driving erratically at around 80mph up the centre of the road overtaking and undertaking traffic causing it to swerve and brake heavily.

The vehicle Hayley was in was forced to brake and went into a skid which threw them into oncoming traffic and fatally injuring her and seriously injuring 5 other people.

The peugeot having seen what had happened and avoiding being involved in the collision itself stopped some 100 ft away from the site of the crash and then drove off at speed. This vehicle has not yet been traced. The law allowed us one police officer to carry out investigations into the accident and to find the driver of the peugeot.

This is ridiculous as there were over 100 statements taken which took one officer months to complete. Had my daughter been killed on the street rather than in a car there would have been a whole team of detectives working on her death and finding her killer.

If this driver is found they will be charged with causing death by dangerous driving which carries a maximum of 14 years in prison but is usually dropped to a careless driving charge whereby the death of a person is not even taken into account and the sentence is usually just a fine and sometimes a driving ban of upto 3 years.

The law needs changing to ensure that the death of a person killed by dangerous driving is taken into account and treated as manslaughter when neccessary.

It is now 3 years since Hayley died and her killer is still out there free to kill again. We haven't heard a thing from the police in over 12 months which basically means that they have no further evidence to suggest who the guilty party is. If anyone knows a thing please get in touch with us or the police.

9. Marijauna Commercial

IF anyone has seen the commercial where they say the people who caused the accident were tested positive for marijauna? Firt off, I've done studies on it. Marijauna stays in your system 28 days after smoking it. It didn't cause the accident. Second off, Its not clinically proven nor is remotely true, its false accusations and evidence.

I'm not saying smoking marijauna is something that people should do, but at least have decent facts before you air something as not true as this. Yes they might have been tested positive but it doesn't mean they were under the influence at the time.
